Syracuse, N.Y. — Angela Douglas, Vera House’s executive director, has been placed on paid administrative leave, the agency’s treasurer said.
Vera House’s board of directors appointed Sheri Rodriguez as interim director Monday, Treasurer Carolina Cordero Dyer said.
The board on Monday also approved an outside investigation, which follows the agency’s review into its policies and procedures, Cordero Dyer said.
The investigation is separate from the decision to place Douglas on leave, Codero Dyer said
“We will review her status going forward,” she said. “This is a personnel matter that we cannot discuss in further detail at this time.”
Douglas was made Vera House’s sole director in September after longtime director Randi Bregman resigned following the agency’s decision to hire a registered sex offender.
“I am very sorry for the hurt and pain I have caused,” Bregman wrote in a statement to agency staff and supporters. “In our work, we talk a lot about intention vs. impact. For those that experience harmful impact, intentions don’t matter.”
