The Landmark Theatre will finally expand their notoriously cramped bathrooms.
On Tuesday, the theater launched a “10,000 Flushes” campaign to raise money to update the bathrooms in the 94-year-old building.
“We have heard your complaints. We have done everything we could within the confines of our building to relieve this uncomfortable situation,” stated the theater’s marketing team in a press release.
The campaign aims to raise $250,000 in increments of $25, equal to one “flush.” The construction would include five new facilities for men and ten for women on the first floor. That would increase bathroom capacity by 35%.
“It’s so important to us, we are giving up our office space to make it happen,” stated the press release.
Ten flushes, or $250, will snag donors a mention on the theater’s fundraiser webpage. Forty flushes, or $1,000, gets donors a recognition for a week on the Salina Street marquee. The number one flusher will get a shiny plaque in the new restrooms.
This is the just the latest renovation project at the theater. Last year a new, retro marquee was hoisted out front. Inside, the narrow original seats were replaced with new ones.
