Syracuse, N.Y. — As one of 16 remaining undefeated FBS teams, Syracuse football finally earned its spot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Orange debuted at No. 22 in the poll following a dominant, yet unsurprising, 59-0 win over Wagner on Saturday. It’s the first time since early in the 2019 season that SU has been ranked in the AP poll.
SU (5-0, 2-0 ACC) also remained ranked in the USA Today Coaches Poll, moving up four spots to No. 21.
Syracuse is one of four ACC programs to be ranked in both polls. All three other teams are ranked in the same spot in both the AP and coaches poll. Clemson is the highest-ranked ACC team at No. 5. N.C. State dropped four spots to No. 14, and Wake Forest rose to No. 15.
Fourteen undefeated programs are ranked in both polls. Syracuse is the lowest ranked among them.
Last week, SU coach Dino Babers said it will take his team cracking the Top 20 in either poll for him to start paying mind to its ranking.
Syracuse is off this week for its bye. The Orange returns to action against N.C. State on Oct. 15 for one of three remaining home games in the JMA Wireless Dome.
