Woman, man walking in Syracuse’s Lincoln Park robbed at gunpoint; suspects leave in victim’s car

Syracuse, N.Y. — A man and woman were taking a walk through Lincoln Park just after sunset Monday when three men approached.

Two of the men had handguns, Syracuse police said.

The suspects demanded the 23-year-old man and 20-year-old woman give them what they were carrying at the time, Syracuse police spokesman Lt. Matthew Malinowski said. The victims did as they were told and gave the men several items, including keys to the car they drove to the park, he said.

Police did not say what other items the suspect took or provide details about the stolen vehicle, however, according to police dispatches the suspects took a black 2015 Hunyadi Sonata with tinted windows, black rims and an Ohio registration.

After the robbery, the man and woman were able to call for help. Officers responded to the 100 block of Robinson St. at the edge of Lincoln Park for the reported robbery. During the call, officials could be heard on police dispatches advising police the suspects are armed and to remember “officer safety.”

There were no injuries reported, Malinowski said.

Syracuse police are continuing to investigate and ask anyone with information to call them at (315) 442-5222.
