Wegmans recently announced it is discontinuing its SCAN app, but there is some good news for customers who were loyal users of the app.

Customers who used the SCAN app at least three times in the past 13 weeks are receiving a $20 digital coupon, Wegmans officials said. The coupon is added directly into the shopper’s digital coupons.

“As a sign of our gratitude for being a frequent SCAN customer, we’ve applied a $20 coupon to your online account,” the email to customers reads.

The SCAN app was first introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic as a contact-less way to shop. Wegmans customers could use a mobile app on their phone to scan and bag their items as they shopped throughout the store.

But Wegmans said it’s had too many losses from the program to continue the app, so it will end Sept. 18.

The Wegmans SCAN app has been available for use at the Wegmans’ DeWitt store since April 2020. It has since then expanded to Auburn, Cicero, Dewitt, Fairmount, Great Northern, John Glenn and the Taft Road store in Onondaga County. It has also been available in numerous other stores chain-wide.
