Four Syracuse councilors asked to vote themselves into political peril

Redistricting

Syracuse Common Councilors are being asked to change the city's voting districts.

Syracuse, N.Y. -- When Syracuse’s Common Council members eventually vote on the city’s new election maps at least four will be asked to do something rare for a politician – make their re-election more difficult.

Based on the city’s proposed maps, two Common Councilors – Jen Schultz and Chol Majok – would be moved into different districts in 2023. They would leave behind much of the territory that elected them last November and face potential primary challenges from other incumbents.
