Clay, N.Y. — More than 600 people in Clay were without power after a FedEx truck crashed into a utility pole shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.

The truck crashed into the pole near the intersection of Henry Clay Boulevard and West Taft Road, according to Sgt. Jon Seeber, a spokesperson for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.

Henry Clay Boulevard was closed between Taft Road and Crossroads Park Drive, according to the Onondaga County 911 Center.

The driver, Eric Bennett, of Syracuse, was transported to Crouse Hospital with minor injuries. Bennett is believed to have suffered a medical emergency, Seeber said.

Initially more than 600 customers were without power, according to the National Grid outage map.
