Pompey, N.Y. — Funeral services have been set for a Pompey father and toddler killed by a gunman who attacked their family near Glacier National Park in Montana last month.
David Siau, 39, and his daughter, McKenzie, who was 18 months old, were fatally shot by the gunman who drove his vehicle into the family before getting out and opening fire on July 17 in East Glacier Park Village, in Montana.
McKenzie’s mom and David’s wife, Christy Siau, 40, was critically injured. The gunman went after David’s sister, Christina Siau, 30, with a knife. Christina was badly injured but fought back, killing the attacker.
The attacker, Derick Amos Madden, 37, and Christina previously had a relationship, authorities said.
Christy and Christina were both in critical condition after the attack but have since been released from the hospital. David and Christy’s two other children escaped the attack uninjured.
David and Christy and their children were on a summer vacation visiting national parks. They were visiting Christina, who lives near East Glacier Park, when the family was attacked.
The services for David and McKenzie will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Pompey Community Church, 2555 Berwyn Rd., according to their obituaries. Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the church.
McKenzie is remembered in her obituary for her love of blueberries, swings, and the family cat. She could “could brighten up any room with her big smile, giggle and dimples.”
David Siau, 39, was the eldest of 10 kids and was a member of the Pompey Community Church, according to his obituary.
“David was quick to listen, slow to anger, and loved deeply,” his obituary said.
David worked at Benchmark Media Systems Inc., and earned his pilot license. He loved dad jokes and was married to Christy Siau for 10 years.
