Alyssa Latham, a top-100 forward in 2023 class, commits to Syracuse women’s basketball

Felisha Legette-Jack

Syracuse women’s basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack picked a new recruit over the weekend in top-100 forward Alyssa Latham.

Syracuse, N.Y. — After adding 10 new players since her appointment as women’s basketball coach in March, Felisha Legette-Jack secured her first commitment from the class of 2023 in forward Alyssa Latham.

A four-star prospect and the 68th-ranked player in her class, according to ESPN, Latham announced her commitment on social media on Sunday night.

She chose the Orange over Boston College, Clemson, Tennessee, Minnesota, Oklahoma State and others.

A 6-foot-1 forward out of Homewood-Flossmoor High School in Illinois, Latham was selected to the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Class 4A all-state first team the past two years, joining fellow south suburban Chicago native and future Orange teammate Kennedi Perkins on both teams.

In late May and early June, Latham attended tryouts for the USA U18 team.

Latham also plays for Nike EYBL squad Midwest Elite. At Nike Nationals in July, Latham played four games and averaged 14.3 points per game, good for 13th among all players. Her best performance came against the Cal Stars, where she scored 24 points on 9-for-11 shooting, grabbed four rebounds and made all six of her free throws.

After adding 2022 prospects Perkins and Lexi McNabb (daughter of former SU football star Donovan and basketball star Raquel), Latham is Legette-Jack’s first top-100 player to commit to the new coach.
