FedEx driver from CNY charged with killing 74-year-old woman found dead inside burned home

Syracuse, N.Y. — A delivery driver from Central New York has been charged with the murder of a woman found dead after a house fire, troopers said.

Anthony L. Dotson Jr., 24, of Yorkville, was a FedEx driver whose route was in the area of the house that burned in May in the town of Ephratah in Fulton County, a State Police news release said Wednesday.

Emergency crews found the body of 74-year-old Sara E. Stinnett inside the home, troopers said. She was the owner of the home at 517 State Route 67, troopers said.

Stinnett’s death was ruled a homicide in June after evidence of suspicious circumstances was found, police said.

Dotson was charged with second-degree murder and is being held in Fulton County jail without bail, troopers said.

State Police is not releasing Stinnett’s cause of death at this time, a spokesman for the department said Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers are still investigating the death and ask anyone with information to email them at crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.
