NYS Fair adds another ‘80s rock band to free concert lineup

.38 Special

.38 Special is best known for the 1980s hits "Caught Up in You" and "Hold On Loosely."

The Great New York State Fair has added another ‘80s rock band to its 2022 concert lineup.

.38 Special will perform at the NYS Fair’s Chevy Court on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. The Southern rock group, best known for the 1981 hit “Hold On Loosely” and 1982′s “Caught Up in You,” last performed at the Fair in 2019.

It’s the perfect time to visit the 1980s, as “Stranger Things” is the hottest TV show right now and Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” is in the top 10 on the Billboard charts. Other acts of that era coming to the NYS Fair include Great White (Aug. 25), Foreigner (Aug. 28), Boy George & Culture Club (Aug. 30), Night Ranger (Sept. 5) and Resurrection – A Journey Tribute (Sept. 5).

All concerts in the Chevrolet Music Series are free with New York State Fair admission.

More than 25 concerts have been announced to date for the 2022 New York State Fair, which begins next month. Chevy Park and Chevy Court are expected to feature two shows daily.
