Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse running back Sean Tucker has made another preseason All-America team.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation released its 2022 Preseason All-America teams Monday. Tucker was named to the second team. He was also named to the second team at the end of the season in 2021.
Tucker was already named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-American third team. He was also featured on the publication’s All-ACC first team and was No. 6 among 2023 draft-eligible FBS running backs. ESPN’s Mel Kiper also has Tucker in his 2023 draft rankings.
In 2021, Tucker set a single-season rushing record for Syracuse football, logging 1,496 yards on 246 attempts. His season-high for a single game was 207 against Boston College. Tucker finished the season with 12 rushing touchdowns and an additional two receiving scores.
The Orange running back was a two-time ACC Running Back of the Week in consecutive weeks following games against Wake Forest and Clemson. Tucker was a nominee for the Doak Walker Award, a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, and even was named as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate by Robert Griffin III.
Five other ACC players made the cut for the Walter Camp preseason teams, plus three from Notre Dame.
Louisville offensive lineman Caleb Chandler, Notre Dame center Jarrett Patterson, Clemson defensive lineman Bryan Bresee and Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson made the first team. Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer, Clemson offensive lineman Jordan McFadden, Pittsburgh defensive lineman Calijah Kancey and Notre Dame defensive back Brandon Joseph made the second team alongside Tucker.
Walter Camp selected his first All-America team in 1889. The Walter Camp Football Foundation was established in 1967 and is a member of the National College Football Awards Association. The NCFAA is a coalition protecting and preserving college football’s predominant awards.
