Covid slammed Syracuse’s job market. Here’s what’s recovered and what hasn’t

Syracuse, N.Y. — Two years after the Covid-19 pandemic tanked the job market in the Syracuse metro area, the region has not fully recovered.

Total private sector employment in the area was still down down 4.5% in February when compared with the same month in 2020, just before the pandemic hit. That translates into more than 11,000 private jobs the region hasn’t recovered of the 49,000 it lost to the pandemic crash
