Syracuse police find teen shot near Van Duyn Elementary School

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse police say a teenager was shot Monday night just blocks from Van Duyn Elementary School.

A woman called the Onondaga County 911 Center at 6:44 p.m. to say her son had just been shot, according to police dispatches.

Syracuse police responded to 236 Girard Ave. to investigate the shooting, according to 911.

When officers arrived, they found an 18-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to the upper leg, Syracuse police said in a news release.

The victim was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
