Rap icon, new Rock and Roll Hall of Famer announce Upstate NY concerts

Two big names have been added to the Upstate New York concert calendar.

Rap icon Nas will perform at the Outer Harbor in Buffalo on Saturday, July 23. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for the hip-hop show.

Tickets for Nas go on sale Friday through tixr.com. General admission prices start at $27.50.

Nas is a rapper best known for songs like “One Love,” “The World is Yours,” “I Can,” “One Mic,” “Oochie Wally,” and “If I Ruled the World (Imagine That),” plus collaborations with Mary J. Blige, Ludacris, Diddy, Amy Winehouse, Justin Bieber and Lil Nas X. The Buffalo show is separate from Nas’ upcoming “NY State of Mind” tour with Wu-Tang Clan, which has no stops in New York state.

The Outer Harbor is located at 461 Fuhrmann Boulevard, Buffalo, N.Y. Other upcoming concerts at the outdoor venue include T-Pain on May 22, Jimmie Allen on June 2, Tyga on June 11, Ja Rule on June 24, Taking Back Sunday on July 10 and Deadmau5 on Sept. 17.

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo will play Albany on July 13 as part of the 2022 Summer at the Plaza Capital Concert Series. The free show will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The announcement by the state Office of General Services came hours after Benatar was announced as part of the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class, along with Dolly Parton, Eminem, Duran Duran, Carly Simon, Lionel Richie, Eurythmics and Syracuse folk legend Libba Cotten. Benatar is known for hits like “Heartbreaker,” “Love is a Battlefield,” and “We Belong.”

Albany’s Summer at the Plaza Capital Concert Series will feature free shows every Wednesday in July, according to the Times Union. Jam band moe. will perform on July 6 and additional shows will be announced in the coming weeks.
