Lawyers picket at Syracuse courthouse

About 50 lawyers picketed Thursday, April 28, outside Syracuse's criminal courthouse over nixed raises to the state's assigned counsel programs.

Syracuse, NY -- About 50 lawyers who represent some of Central New York’s poorest clients picketed Syracuse’s criminal courthouse at noon Thursday over low pay.

“Raise the rates!” the lawyers chanted, a clear play on the state’s recent “Raise the Age” criminal justice reform legislation.
