Smoke on the water: New concept coming to former Lock 24 restaurant in Baldwinsville

Baldwinsville, N.Y. — What his first restaurant did with garlic, Jeff Rogers’ new venture will do with smoke.

Rogers, owner of Angry Garlic restaurant in Baldwinsville, is taking over the former Lock 24 restaurant in downtown Baldwinsville and turning it in to a barbecue place.

The location at 33 Water St. will be called Angry Smokehouse. Rogers is aiming to open in late June, according to his posts on Facebook. Rogers could not be reached today for comment.

In 2019, he opened Angry Garlic at 29 Oswego St. in the village as a place where every single dish includes garlic.

According to his Facebook post, he seems to taking a similar approach with Angry Smokehouse, substituting smoke for garlic.

“WE LOVE SMOKE!,” the Facebook post said. “Angry Smokehouse is all about Smoke and BBQ. We express that through bold flavors, rustic plate presentation, unique menu items and incredible guest service. Located at Lock 24 on the gorgeous Seneca River.”

Lock 24, which specialized in seafood, steaks, burgers and more, closed in 2019, three years after it was purchased by Dave and Jennifer Baumgartner. The original owner was Dave Younis, part of the family that owned the B’Ville Diner for more than 50 years, who built and opened Lock 24 in 1997.
