Rob Gronkowski grew up a Buffalo Bills fan.
Gronkowski and his family grew up about 30 minutes away from Highmark Stadium. When he played backyard football as a kid in Western New York, the future Hall of Fame tight end pretended to be players like Eric Moulds or Takeo Spikes.
Before he calls it a career, could Gronk become a member of the Bills?
It’s not as crazy as it seems. With Tom Brady retired, Gronkowski could look to play for a championship contender in 2022. Buffalo is among the early betting favorites to win Super Bowl LVII so the team certainly fits that criteria and a recent Bookies.com gave Buffalo the best odds of landing the tight end.
Below are the betting odds from Bookies.com.
No Team/Retired-125
Buffalo Bills+550
Green Bay Packers+650
Tampa Bay Buccaneers+800
Arizona Cardinals+900
Chicago Bears+1200
LA Chargers+1500
Miami Dolphins+1800
San Francisco 49ers+2000
Buffalo and Gronkowski have flirted with the idea of joining forces. Mike Silver reported last year that Gronkowski had considered an offer from the Bills before ultimately re-signing with the Buccaneers on a one-year, $10 million contract. Gronkowski would haul in 55 passes for 802 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games with the Buccaneers in 2021.
In Buffalo, Gronkowski would play alongside Dawson Knox, a tight end coming off of a breakout season. Knox caught 49 passes for 587 yards and nine touchdowns this season. He would also play with Josh Allen, the current MVP betting favorite in 2022.
One team absent from the betting odds is the Cincinnati Bengals. Gronkowski recently said that if he were to play with another quarterback he would like it to be Joe Burrow.
“I kinda like this young buck quarterback. He’s in the Super Bowl now: It’s Joe Burrow, man,” Gronkowski said via the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I watched him in college. I just love the way he presents himself out on the football field. In the pocket, he’s just so calm and he just slings it out on the field. ... I just love his swag, too.”
