Longtime judge and defense attorney Paul Carey will vie for the Republican designation in the race for Onondaga County Sheriff.

Carey, 72, has been a criminal lawyer for more than 33 years. Before becoming a criminal defense lawyer in 1988, Carey was a deputy with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. He is also currently a Town of Salina judge who has won seven straight local elections.
