Person shot, injured by pellet or similar gun near Cornell University campus

Ithaca, N.Y. — A person was struck by a projectile from a pellet gun or similar gun this weekend while walking near the Cornell University campus in Ithaca, police said.

The person, who is college-aged, was walking in the 600 block of University Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Ithaca police said.

The person told police a projectile from an airsoft or pellet gun hit the person’s leg, injuring the person, police said. The projectile was shot from a maroon SUV traveling west on University Avenue, police said.

The only description of the perpetrator was that they were wearing a green or grey ski mask, police said.

The incident is being investigated, police said.
