24-year-old woman found dead in parking lot of Syracuse nursing home

Syracuse, N.Y. — A woman was found dead in a car in a parking lot of a Syracuse nursing home Sunday, police said.

The 24-year-old woman was found unresponsive in the car at about 12:41 p.m. at Loretto Health and Rehabilitation at 700 E. Brighton Ave., said Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a spokesperson for the Syracuse police.

The woman -- a certified nursing assistant at Loretto -- was pronounced dead at the scene, Malinowski said.

“The circumstances surrounding the death are being investigated,” he said.

Police said the death may be from a drug overdose but they are awaiting an autopsy by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

“The Loretto community is deeply saddened and our thoughts are with the family of this individual,” said Crystal DeStefano, a spokesperson for Loretto. “Loretto is working closely with police.”

Police ask anyone with information about the woman’s death to call them at (315) 442-5222.
