Parents of 4 missing Skaneateles children who refused to help with search arrested

Skaneateles, N.Y. -- The parents of four children who were last seen two weeks ago and found Wednesday night were arrested for refusing to cooperate with law enforcement.

David Hunt, 47, and Jennifer Hunt, 42, of Skaneateles, were both charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, sheriff’s office spokesperson Sgt. Jon Seeber said in a news release Wednesday.

The four siblings, ranging from 4 to 13, were last seen Jan. 12 during a welfare check at their home, Seeber said. The welfare check was in response to allegations of abuse happening inside the home, he said.

Following the welfare check, a family court judge issued a court order for the removal of the children by Onondaga County Child Protective Services.

The parents of the children refused to cooperate with authorities or reveal the location of the children, Seeber said.

The sheriff’s office issued an alert Wednesday night asking for the public’s help locating the children. About 1 1/2 hours later the sheriff’s office reported the children had been located at a relative’s residence near Mottville Road in Skaneateles.
