Tails sometimes fails: Bills’ Josh Allen had been perfect calling coin toss before Sunday’s game vs. Chiefs

Josh Allen played two nearly perfect games this postseason.

In the Buffalo Bills’ two playoff games, Buffalo’s quarterback threw nine touchdowns. Nine!

On Sunday night, he led the Bills back when they were down nine points and later threw what looked to be the game-winning touchdown pass with just 13 seconds remaining in the game. Against the Chiefs defense, Allen completed 27-of-37 passes for 329 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for an additional 68 yards on the ground. His performance should have been enough for the Bills to advance against the Chiefs.

While he played two nearly flawless games, one perfect streak for Allen came to an end on Sunday night. The coin toss.

Amazingly, Allen had been a perfect 9-0 this season calling heads or tails. Against the Chiefs, Allen went 0-2.

Losing the pre-game coin flip did not seem to affect Buffalo much with the team marching down the field for a touchdown, but losing the overtime coin flip proved costly. Kansas City received the ball, scored a touchdown and ended the game without Buffalo ever getting a chance to win.

While Allen is the last person who deserves any part of the blame for the team’s 42-36 overtime loss, his coin toss win streak ended at the worst possible time.
