Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse women’s lacrosse attack Emma Ward will miss the 2022 season as a result of a lower-leg injury.

Ward posted the news Sunday night on Instagram.

A preseason honorable mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse, Ward was coming off a breakout freshman season in which she finished with 73 points (43 goals, 30 assists) for the national runner-up Orange.

“As many of you know, long-term injuries are not unfamiliar to me,” Ward said in a statement. “Just as I have in the past, I will put all my time and energy into getting back to the best version of myself, both on and off the field.”

Ward tore her ACL in her freshman and sophomore year of high school at Babylon High School on Long Island.

Syracuse opens the 2022 women’s lacrosse season Feb. 11 against Stanford.
