Syracuse, N.Y. — A trio of Syracuse football transfers are headed south to finish out their careers.

Edge rusher Latarie Kinsler, cornerback Adrian Cole and receiver Sharod Johnson have signed with Florida International ahead of the spring semester.

The three players are the latest to land at a new school after submitting their names into the NCAA’s transfer portal.

All three are Florida natives planning to play closer to home.

Johnson and Cole were regulars on the two-deep during their time with the Orange, while Kinsler’s development was slowed because of an injury and rehab during his freshman season in 2020.

Cole appeared in nine games this past season, recording 17 tackles and three pass breakups. The Orange returns its top two cornerbacks in Garrett Williams and Duce Chestnut for the 2022 season.

Johnson, a graduate transfer, finished the 2021 season with 14 receptions for 184 yards.

FIU is led by first-year coach Mike MacIntyre, best known for leading Colorado to the Pac-12 championship game in his fourth season in 2016. MacIntyre spent the last three seasons as a defensive coordinator at Ole Miss and Memphis.

Other Syracuse transfers who have committed to new schools include quarterback Tommy DeVito (Illinois), tight ends Luke Benson (Georgia Tech) and Landon Morris (Utah), linebacker Geoff Cantin (Memphis) and running backs Jarveon Howard (Alcorn State) and Garrison Johnson (Northwestern State).
