NY OKs $1M to bring food market, education center to Erie Canal building on Syracuse’s Westside

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The state is providing $1 million to assist with the transformation of the historic Gere Block building on Syracuse’s Far Westside into a food market, education center and co-working space.

The $978,396 grant is among $81 million in grants announced by Gov. Kathy Hochul to support 97 projects across New York through the state’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.
