Clay, N.Y. — A fire that took more than an hour to extinguish destroyed a home in the town of Clay Saturday morning.
The fire was reported at 9:23 a.m., according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames pouring out of the home.
Fire trucks and dozens of emergency personnel surrounded the home, at 3498 Bonstead Road near Maider Road.
The right side of the home sustained severe damage. Smoke continued to pour from the home over an hour after the blaze began.
It took firefighters around 70 minutes to put out the fire, deputies said.
All the residents inside the home were able to escape, deputies said.
Three residents were inside the home when the fire broke out, deputies said. The Red Cross is working to relocate the residents.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, deputies said.
