Syracuse women’s basketball ends losing streak with 79-57 win over Colgate

The Syracuse women’s basketball team overcame a slow start and cruised to a win over Colgate, 79-57, on Sunday in the Carrier Dome.

The win snapped the Orange’s three-game losing streak. Syracuse (3-4) lost to Buffalo, Minnesota and South Florida in the Bahamas.

Syracuse trailed 16-11 before going on a 9-0 run. The Orange had even bigger runs in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Raiders 15-2 to close the half and then opening the third quarter with a 14-4 run. By the end, Syracuse led 57-29.

Chrislyn Carr scored a game-high 20 points for Syracuse, her second-straight game with at least 20 points.

Naje Murray added a season-high 17 points. Alaysia Styles had six points and 15 rebounds, seven of them on the offense glass.

Syracuse next plays Ohio State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carrier Dome. Ohio State (5-0) is No. 21 in the AP poll.
