Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Nottingham girls varsity basketball team will be sidelined this season as the program builds toward what it hopes will be quick return to competition.

Bulldogs athletic director Alton Hicks said the decision to cancel varsity play was made Monday. Hicks cited a lack of experienced players as the reason why fielding a team was untenable.
