A new HGTV series promises to “Kickstart” an Upstate New York town with a revitalization project.
The Hudson Valley Post reports Cornwall, N.Y., is one of six small communities nationwide that will be given “a boost to re-energize their revitalization efforts” on the upcoming TV show “Home Town Kickstart Presented By PEOPLE,” hosted by Ben and Erin Napier. The Napiers previously renovated their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi on HGTV’s “Home Town,” and led a similar effort in Wetumpka, Alabama, on “Home Town Takeover.”
“We asked ourselves if it’s possible to do it here then why couldn’t we do it in another small town,” Ben Napier said in a statement.
Discovery said in a press release that Cornwall will also be visited by home makeover experts like Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent (”The Nate and Jeremiah Home Project”), Ty Pennington (”Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”), Jasmine Roth (”Help! I Wrecked My House”), and Alison Victoria (”Windy City Rehab”). The network did not say which would visit the Hudson Valley town of Cornwall or other locations involved in the series, including Buffalo, Wyoming; Winslow, Arizona; LaGrange, Kentucky; Thomaston, Georgia; and Minden, Louisiana.
The personalities will work with the Napiers to lead three projects in each town: Refresh the home of a local hero; give a small business an upgrade; and reinvigorate a public space to boost residents’ quality of life and community pride.
“We see the positive impact of this small town renaissance every day in Laurel,” Erin Napier said in a press release. “Ben and I can’t wait to share all we’ve learned with our fellow HGTV experts so they can help these communities achieve their goals.”
“Home Town Kickstart” will debut in the spring of 2022, and People magazine will also feature stories from each location and standout locals.
