Central NY man killed, woman severely injured in head-on crash in Cicero, police say

A head-on crash in Cicero left a 27-year-old man dead and a 64-year-old woman severely injured, police said.

Cicero, N.Y. -- A 27-year-old man has died after a head-on crash in Cicero on Friday night, according to New York State Police.

Joshua A. Heffernan, of Mattydale, was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after the crash.

Janet A. Nunez, 64, of Bridgeport, suffered severe internal injuries in the crash but is currently stable, police said.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. on Route 31 just west of Tuttle Road, according to police.

Nunez was driving a 2016 GMC Terrain eastbound on Route 31 when her car crossed the center line into the westbound lane and hit a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Heffernan, police said.

Police are asking that anyone that may have seen the crash to call state police investigator Jeffrey Duck at 315-455-2922.
