Salt City Horror Festival

A Syracuse horror movie festival is returning just in time for Halloween.

The Salt City Horror Festival Drive-In Edition will take place Sunday Oct. 24, at the Fingerlakes Drive-In in Aurelius, just outside of Auburn. Four feature films, including an advance screening of a new flick starring “Evil Dead” actor Bruce Campbell, will be shown back to back on the big screen.

Tickets are on $15 in advance and on sale now at saltcityhorrorfest.com.

The parking lot opens at 6 p.m. with the first film showing at dusk. Attendees under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The 2021 Salt City Horror Festival lineup includes:

  • “Black Friday” (SCHF exclusive advance screening) - A group of toy store employees must protect each other from a horde of parasite infected shoppers. Starring Bruce Campbell, Devon Sawa & Michael Jai White. (Variety reports it won’t be released until November.)
  • “The Fog” - John Carpenter’s classic ghost story! Newly restored 4K screening. Starring Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis & Tom Atkins.
  • “The Funhouse” (40th Anniversary screening) - Four teenagers visit a local carnival for a night of innocent amusement. They soon discover, however, that there is nothing innocent or amusing there at all. Directed by Tobe Hooper (”The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”).
  • “Spookies” - A wicked sorcerer tries to sacrifice a group of people inside his house with the intention of using their vitality to keep his wife alive in this totally bonkers 80′s cult classic.

The event is produced by After Dark Presents, Reckless Cinema & The Salt City Horror Festival.
