Syracuse, N.Y. — Another person in Onondaga County has died of Covid-19.

The person was a man in his 60s with underlying conditions, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said this afternoon on Twitter. A total of 786 people in the county have now died of Covid since the pandemic began last year.

Covid hospitalizations jumped nine in the last day to 86. Another 19 people are in intensive care units, down three.

The county reported 165 new cases today and 642 total from Monday through Thursday. That’s down from 868 from Monday to Thursday last week.

McMahon said the next few days will tell if the county’s curve is bending in the right direction.

New cases in the county have appeared to be flattening in October. The seven-day average of new cases a day was around 230 for much of the month. It fell to 192 today.
