Syracuse, N.Y. — Two more people have died of Covid-19 in Onondaga County.
One person was a woman in her 70s and the other a woman in her 80s. Both had underlying health conditions, Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said today on Twitter.
A total of 785 people in the county have died since the pandemic began in 2020.
The county reported 92 new cases today. That’s the first time since Sept. 15 the county has seen less than 100 new cases in a day.
A total of 77 people are in local hospitals with Covid, up one from yesterday. Another 22 people are in intensive care units, down one.
New cases in the county appear to be flattening for the moment, although at an elevated level. The seven-day average of new cases a day has been around 230 for much of October.
McMahon said the county will partner with Kinney Drugs to hold a Covid booster shot clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Oncenter in downtown Syracuse. You can register online at http://ongov.net.
The county is also launching a new Covid testing site for people with symptoms in partnership with Quadrant Biosciences. It will be located at Heritage Lincoln Mercury, 800 W. Genesee St. in Syracuse.
The site opens Friday at 9 a.m. You’ll be able to register for tests online at http://ongov.net/.
