Syracuse, N.Y. ― Jason Hart played basketball at Syracuse from 1996 to 2000 and remains one of the greatest players in the program’s history.
He scored over 1,500 points. He is the school’s all-time leader in steals and ranks behind only the legendary Sherman Douglas in career assists.
But Hart almost never played at Syracuse.
In a conversation on the Inside Syracuse Basketball podcast, Hart explained why he tried to get out of his commitment to Syracuse, his family’s troubling history of kidney problems, how he never held the school’s hard-line stance in keeping him to his commitment against SU coach Jim Boeheim and why he’s glad he did end up playing for the Orange.
Hart also talked about his recent move from being an assistant at the University of Southern California to become the head coach of the G-League’s Ignite. He discussed whether the G-League is a threat to the college game and much more.
