6 times Syracuse mayor candidates will meet before Election Day

Syracuse, N.Y. — With just over three weeks left before Syracuse elects its next mayor, residents will have at least six opportunities to see candidates confront each other on important issues.

All debates and forums are available to watch, listen or stream virtually.

WAER Mayoral Forum: “How can we create a more sustainable Syracuse?” Today, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. via WAER 88.3

WAER News and Public Affairs Director Chris Bolt will ask the candidates about topics including environmental, financial and community sustainability. After it airs, the show will be available for on-demand listening at WAER.org.

WCNY Public Safety Forum Oct. 18 at 8 p.m., via WCNY-TV and streaming on wcny.org

This forum will focus on public safety issues, including policing, crime, safety and infrastructure. David Lombardo, host of WCNY’s Capitol Pressroom, will host the debate.

Moderator Chris Baker will try to cover as much ground as possible during this debate, asking the three candidates to talk about crime and public safety, plans for I-81, business issues and more. A recording of the debate will be available on syracuse.com through Election Day.

Campbell Conversations Radio Debate Part 1, Oct. 23 at 6:30 a.m. and Oct. 24 at 6 p.m.; Part 2, Oct. 30 at 6:30 a.m. and Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. via WRVO local stations FM 89.9 and FM 90.3

The Campbell Public Affairs Institute at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs will host a debate on its interview-based program. Director of the institute, Grant Reeher, will moderate. It will air in two 30-minute parts. Once each part airs, the audio will be available for download or streaming at wrvo.org (find the program under the “local programming” tab).

NewsChannel9 Debate Oct. 24 at 5 p.m., via ABC9 and available through Election Day at localsyr.com

Dan Cummings, NewsChannel 9 morning news co-anchor and host of the channel’s weekly public affairs program, will moderate a debate focusing on crime, policing and public safety. He’ll also ask about how the city can capitalize on the I-81 project over the next several years and will touch on several other issues.
