Syracuse, N.Y. — Two more Onondaga County residents have died of Covid-19, County Executive Ryan McMahon said today.
A man in his 40s and a woman in her 70s who died both had serious underlying conditions, McMahon said in a tweet.
Hospitalizations dropped to 95 from 96 the day before, with 20 people being treated in intensive care units, McMahon said. Of those in an ICU, 90% are unvaccinated, he said.
There are 271 new confirmed cases, up from 100 on Thursday, McMahon said today. Total active cases have climbed to 1,060 after it had dropped down to 982 on Wednesday, he said.
McMahon said U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention modeling has the county flattening out at about 1,000 cases per week.
Since the pandemic began, 746 people have died in Onondaga County because of Covid.
