The last time the Buffalo Bills shut out a team was Oct. 2, 2016: A 16-0 win against the New England Patriots.

The Pats’ starting quarterback that game was Jacoby Brissett, who was filling in for a suspended Tom Brady.

Five years later, the Bills found themselves once again shutting out a team led by Brissett, who took over after an early injury forced Tua Tagovailoa out of the game.

The Bills were able to rebound, after a loss in Week 1 to the Pittsburgh Steelers, with a dominant 35-0 shutout win against the Miami Dolphins.

It was the Bills’ sixth straight victory over the Dolphins, who drop to 1-1 and find themselves tied with the Patriots and Bills in the AFC East division.

The Bills were able to pressure the Dolphins early on as their defense sacked Tua Tagovailoa twice on a three-and-out opening drive. Moments later, they watched as Devin Singletary ran 46 yards for the Bills’ first touchdown.

After embracing a brutal hit from AJ Epenesa, Tagovailoa threw an incomplete pass on fourth-and-2, giving the Bills possession on their own 48 yard line. Tagovailoa would fail to return to the game after being ruled out with a rib injury.

Jacoby Brissett entered the game and struggled from the start. Brissett’s first three series ended with three-and-out punt, an interception by Levi Wallace, and a fumble by Jakeem Grant that was forced by Taron Johnson and recovered by Matt Milano.

Brissett would play the rest of a scoreless game for Miami. He completed 24 of 40 pass attempts for 169 yards with one interception. The Bills offense outgained the Dolphins offense, 314 to 216 yards all while forcing three turnovers.

After being the only team in the AFC East to win in Week 1, the Dolphins were hoping to head into this game with a 2-0 lead in the division.

The Bills will see the Dolphins again on Oct. 31 at Highmark Stadium.
