Another very busy weekend in Central New York.

Canine Carnival
Over the previous ten years the Canine Carnival, started by local meteorologist Wayne Mahar as a tribute to his mom, has raised nearly a quarter of a million of dollars for CNY animal rescues. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Jamesville Beach Park. Bring your best four-legged friend for a fun day out with entertainment and vendors. Thomas Rhett and Cole Swindell
After three postponements, country music superstar finally brings his “Center Point Road Tour” to the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview on Thursday night at 7: 30 p.m. Opening acts include Cole Swindell and Conner Smith. Jordan Fall Festival
For 75 years the Jordan Fall Festival has been a family favorite. Come out this year from Friday through Sunday for an arts and crafts tent, car, bike, and truck show, live music, children’s activities, and, of course, the famous greased pole climb. Madison County Hop Fest
The Madison County Hop Fest, now in its 25th year, will celebrate the “past, present, prosperous future” of the hop industry in the county and throughout New York State. On Saturday, take in programs about hop culture, home brewing demonstrations, history lessons, vendors and farmers, live music, raffles, and the crowning of a Hop King. The event is free except for the Craft Beer Sampling on Saturday ($35). The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Everyone attending must provide proof of vaccination. Festa Italiana Syracuse
Also known as Italian Fest, Festa Italiana Syracuse has been an annual downtown Syracuse event since 1998. It returns this weekend, Friday through Sunday, to the 200 block of Montgomery Street for three days of music, dancing, kids’ arts and crafts, and Italian food. Sidewalk Serenade
Come to downtown Syracuse on Saturday for an on-site Chelsea Opera experience. This free, outdoor, 10-minute comic opera, “Sidewalk Serenade,” tells the story of Quinn and Emery, “two romantic hopefuls meeting on a Syracuse sidewalk after matching on a dating app.” Soprano Sarah Daniels and tenor Brad Bickhardt* alternate in the role of Quinn, with soprano Andrea Bickford and baritone CJ Roche alternating in the role of Emery. Performances will be at Epicuse (12:00 PM & 2:00 PM, 334 S. Salina St.), the 24-Second Shot Clock (12:30 PM & 2:30 PM, 400 block of S. Franklin St.), Perseverance Park (1:00 PM & 3:00 PM, 205 S. Salina St.), and Wildflowers Armory (1:30 PM & 3:30 PM, 217 S. Salina St.). If it rains, the performances will be moved to Sunday.

Baldwin vs. Buckley: The Faith of Our Fathers”
Syracuse Stage reopens its doors for public performances with a fully staged, professional reading of “Baldwin vs. Buckley,” a “theatricalization” by the theater’s resident playwright Kyle Bass of the 1965 debate between Civil Rights activist James Baldwin and conservative commentator William Buckley, Jr. It was broadcast by the BBC. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Admission is free but tickets must be obtained from syracusestage.org. Covid protocols will be in place, proof of vaccination or negative test will be required.

Taste of Baldwinsville
Hungry? The Taste of Baldwinsville on Saturday is a day-long family-friendly event with great food and entertainment. It showcases the many B-Ville eateries and breweries. Jazz-n-Caz
The COVID pandemic forced the cancellation of the popular music series Jazz-n-Caz last year, but it makes its return this year. The three-night festival runs from Sept. 16-18 and restaurant and Cazenovia College venues. Shows are free and open to the public. Beers, Bikes, and Barges: Canastota
Join the Canastota Canal Town Museum and the Erie Canal Museum for an hour-long bike ride on Thursday evening, while exploring Canastota’s Erie Canal and brewing history. It begins and ends at the Erie Canal Brewing Company, where you will be treated to a beer as well as a history lesson. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at eriecanalmuseum.org. All Covid protocols will be enforced.

Crafted After Dark and Salt City Honk
The highly anticipated return of “Crafted After-Dark and Salt City Honk” happen on Saturday, from 4-9 p.m. The night-time market will have more than 150 spots for flea market and vintage curators and artisan crafters from across the region along the upper lot behind the MOST. Street bands from all over the country will be performing.

Auburn’s Art in the Park
Art in the Park at Auburn’s Hoopes Park features the work of over 50 artists and artisans. Come out on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to look at shop one-of-a-kind creations, grab something to eat, and enjoy live music. The event is free. For $25 you can participate in the 5th annual Jake Harding Memorial Plein Air Paint Out.

Everson Museum Community Day
To help the Everson Museum celebrate the opening of its new exhibition, “AbStranded: Fiber and Abstraction in Contemporary Art,” families are invited on Saturday to come for a free event. 19th Annual Fall Migration Festival
Join the Great Swamp Conservancy on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the 19th Annual Fall Migration Conservancy, celebrating the migratory birds and monarch butterflies. There live birds of prey, wildlife artists and crafters, live music by the NYS Old Tyme Fiddlers Association, raffles, a chick barbecue, and, weather permitting, wagon rides, guided trail walks, and games for kids. Baltimore Woods Art Reception
The public is invited to attend a free art reception on Saturday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the John A. Weeks Interpretive Center at Baltimore Woods. The reception highlights the “Nature’s Magic” exhibit which will be on display through October 28. It is a showcase of “the whimsical creations of Lisa Davis and the wonder-inspired photographs of Dean Kolts,” which offers the opportunity to see plants in a new way, while engaging the imagination. The artwork will be for sale. You are asked to wear a mask.

Syracuse Walk 4 CMT
There is no cure for Charcot Marie Tooth, a group of disorders which affects the body’s peripheral nerves. The local Charcot Marie Tooth Association will be holding a fundraising walk at Onondaga Lake Park on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. All are welcome to participate. Coin and currency show
Everyone is welcome, from beginners to advanced collectors on Sunday to the Onondaga Numismatic Association’s Coin and Currency Show at the Maplewood Inn. There will be 24 tables of professional dealers who will be buying and selling coins and paper money and doing free evaluations. There will be door prizes. The free event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Collamer United Church Rummage Sale
The Collamer United Church will be holding its annual “gigantic” and “awesome” rummage sale will be held this Friday and Saturday at Vollmer’s Greenhouse in East Syracuse. The sale will continue on Saturday, Sept. 25. The sale offers a wide variety of bargains for new and antique items. There will be a food counter and bake sale.

Trunk Sale for Haiti
The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter on Onondaga Hill will be hosting a Trunk Sale (a garage sale from your trunk) on Saturday. Vendor rental space will benefit the church’s twin parish in Haiti. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
