Erie County executive Mark Poloncarz announced on Tuesday that all Buffalo Bills fans must be vaccinated to attend home games moving forward.

Fans 12 years and older will be required to have at least one dose of the vaccine to enter the stadium for home games against the Washington Football Team on Sept. 26 and the Houston Texans on Oct. 3. Fans under 12 years old won’t be required to be vaccinated but must wear a mask at all times.

A negative Covid-19 test will not be accepted to gain entrance to the stadium. Fans must present proof of vaccination, which includes physical vaccination card (photos will not be accepted), NYS Excelsior Pass, Clear Digital Vaccine Card, or government digital vaccine proof from outside NYS.

Poloncarz said that presenting a fake vaccination is a Class D felony. “If you want to go to the games, get vaccinated,” he said.

The Bills put out a FAQ to answer some fan questions with the new policy going into effect immediately. All season ticket holders will receive an email with guidelines on how to request a refund should you choose not to get vaccinated. The deadline to make this request is set for Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. Single game purchases are not eligible for refunds. If fans who purchased single game tickets can’t meet the requirements to attend, they can transfer, resell, or donate their tickets.

Pegula Sports and Entertainment executive vice president Ron Raccuia said the team has worked with the county the past few months to try and make things safe for fans.

“We are looking to provide the safest environment for our fans that we possibly can,” he said. “We’re thankful for this collaboration. We feel like this is the right move going forward.”
