Syracuse, N.Y. -- The city of Syracuse’s proposal to knock down toxic algae blooms with a pesticide has encountered opposition by residents who say the plan has too many unanswered questions.

The Skaneateles Lake Association sent a letter to the state Department of Environmental Conservation, saying the group opposed any application of the algicide EarthTec until the city provided more information about its potential impacts on the lake.
