30-year-old man dies in car crash in Cayuga County, police say

Brutus, N.Y. — A 30-year-old man was killed this weekend when his car crashed into a tree in Cayuga County, state police said.

Nicholas Hawker, of Memphis (Onondaga County), was driving north on Pump Road in the town of Brutus at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle, it went off the road and hit a tree, according to a New York State Police news release Monday.

Hawker was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Troopers are still investigating the crash.
