Skaneateles woman charged with drugged driving after flipping Jeep to avoid animal

Skaneateles, NY -- A Skaneateles woman was charged Saturday with driving under the influence of an unknown drug after flipping her Jeep to avoid an unknown animal in the road, state police said.

Stephanie G. Wild, 35, was driving south on Jordan Road when she swerved around 8:49 p.m. to avoid the animal, troopers said. Her 2004 Jeep left the road and overturned. Wild avoided injury in the crash, troopers said.

But a trooper trained in drug recognition found reason to believe that Wild was operating the vehicle while under the influence, Trooper Jack Keller said. The type of drug she’s accused of taking was not immediately known, Keller said, noting that toxicology tests were still ongoing.

Wild was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs. She was transported to the state police barracks in Elbridge before being released on an appearance ticket for later this month.
