Syracuse, N.Y. – A Syracuse man killed Tuesday on the North Side was shot by a landlord, according to two sources familiar with the case.

Police this morning released the name of the man killed: Demetris Jackson.

The 28-year-old was shot in the head just before 2:30 p.m. at 1808 Lodi St., police said. Jackson was not a tenant of the home, a source confirmed.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police did not release more details about the shooting or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

A caller reported seeing a man on the ground in the backyard of a home on the street, according to dispatches.

A large crowd gathered as police and emergency crews arrived on Lodi Street Tuesday afternoon.
