Syracuse, NY — A woman who told police that she feared for her life at the hands of lacrosse player Chase Scanlan is suing Syracuse University, accusing it of not doing enough to protect her and other students from a star athlete with a reported history of violent behavior.

The federal lawsuit contains allegations of Scanlan’s past behavior that include stalking and physically controlling the woman: pushing her, verbally abusing her, breaking her belongings and looking in her bedroom window. Based on that, the university issued a no-contact order against Scanlan in January 2021.
