Delayed by Covid, a family prepares to bury a father, mother and son with full military honors

As a present to his brother, Dave Disinger photoshopped an image of his brother, Tom (center), along with his mother, Jean (left), and father, Bob, in their service uniforms. On Friday, the ashes of Jean, Bob and Tom will be buried at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the former Sampson Naval Base on Seneca Lake. Photo courtesy of Dave Disinger.

Syracuse, N.Y. – Jean Disinger’s family mourned when she died last year; just one day before her 98th birthday.

Their heartache was compounded when the coronvarius prevented them from holding a ceremony to bury her ashes along with those of her late husband, Bob, who had died in 2002. The family wanted to bury them together in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery on Onondaga Hill.
