DeWitt, N.Y. — A Syracuse man faces a rarely used criminal charge that accuses him of helping a friend kill himself.

Clifford H. Towndrow, 54, was charged with promoting a suicide attempt, a felony, and could face up to four years in prison if convicted, Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said.
