Car collides with utility pole; hundreds in Syracuse lose power

Syracuse, N.Y. – A car hit a utility pole on Velasko Road in Syracuse Saturday morning, police said.

The accident at 10:46 a.m. affected multiple utility poles and pulled down power lines.

The accident cut power to 851 National Grid customers, according to the company’s outage map. The power has since been restored.

Two utility poles were broken, which left power lines down on Velasko Road, which was closed.
