Syracuse, N.Y. -- Onondaga County will provide Covid-19 tests for people without illness symptoms Thursday at the Civic Center, 421 Montgomery St. The test site will be open 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. in the Banner Room in the Civic Center basement.

No appointment is necessary. The county will administer the Rapid BinaxNOW test, which provides results within minutes.

County officials resumed providing the tests this week because the number of new daily cases is rising in the county. Additional test clinics will be announced in the future.

“The vaccine continues to be our best tool in our fight against COVID-19 and I continue to encourage those who still have not received the vaccine to do so,’' County Executive Ryan McMahon said. “The next best tool is testing and our team is now preparing to mobilize wherever necessary to find hidden pockets of the virus.”
