Brew at the Zoo’s 25th Anniversary Silent Auction is held to support the Aug. 6 in-person event at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, but the online auction is live now and open for bidding on dozens of unique items – including a “Rock & Roll Guitar Superstars” guitar autographed by Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, Pete Townshend, Neil Young, The Edge (U2) and Slash (Guns ‘N Roses).

The Rock Star Superstars guitar is among a slew of entertainment memorabilia featured in the silent auction, a mobile event that can be bid on from any mobile device at https://one.bidpal.net/brewatthezoo/. It is being held in conjunction with Brew at the Zoo 25th Anniversary Presented by CXtec to benefit the zoo.

Other exclusive fan collectibles include a guitar pick guard autographed by Trey Anastasio of PHISH, a “Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi” movie poster signed by the entire cast, an autographed photo of David Bowie, framed “Monsters Inc.” animation art signed by Billy Crystal and John Goodman, and an autographed photo of the original “Star Trek” TV show cast.

“One of our fan favorite auction items are art masterpieces painted by our zoo residents,” said Friends of the Zoo Executive Director Carrie Large. “To create even more excitement, we offered autographed Star Wars posters for the first time earlier this year, and they did really well. We are hoping more items like these will elevate this fund-raiser to benefit our internationally accredited zoo.”

Brew at the Zoo has always featured a Silent Auction of gift baskets and gift cards from area businesses and paintings by zoo animals such as the zoo’s animal art pioneer Siri the Asian elephant and “penguin Picasso” Hugo the Humboldt penguin.

The addition of entertainment and rock star memorabilia takes the silent auction beyond CNY, with famous name items like guitars signed by the bands Pearl Jam, Guns ‘N Roses, Aerosmith and Bon Jovi, albums signed by Aerosmith and Johnny Cash, signed movie posters, photos and collages from “Star Wars,” “Shrek,” “ET,” the Marvel Universe, “Mission: Impossible” and many more. There is even an autographed Jason mask from “Friday the 13th.”

“I have to admit, there was a little bit of squealing when these items started arriving in the mail, especially the Rock Star guitar,” Large said. “The word ‘sick’ came up more than once.”

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Rosamond Gifford Zoo’s missions of exceptional animal care, wildlife conservation, nature education and saving endangered species.
